Before you arrive: Complete your new patient forms online through our patient portal. This saves time and lets us review your medical and dental history before you sit down.
When you arrive: The front desk team handles check-in, confirms your insurance and paperwork, and walks you through anything that needs attention. If you have questions about scheduling, billing, or what to expect, they are the people to ask.

While you are here: The dental chairs have built-in heat and massage. We offer fresh-ground espresso, cappuccinos and lattes (regular or decaf), sparkling water, and tea.
Imaging: Your dental assistant takes a full set of diagnostic images. Depending on your situation, this may include digital X-rays, photos, a digital impression, and a cone-beam CT (CBCT). These images are the foundation of every recommendation that follows.
Examination: Dr. Kary performs a thorough clinical exam: teeth, gums, bite, jaw joints (TMJ), oral cancer screening, and airway assessment. If you have specific concerns or symptoms, those are addressed directly.
Discussion: Dr. Kary reviews findings and images with you. He explains what is happening, what he recommends, and what the alternatives are. You leave with a clear picture and enough information to make your own decision.
Planning: The Patient Care Coordinator walks you through costs, insurance estimates, payment options, and scheduling.
Cleaning: If your gums are healthy and you are due, a routine cleaning may be done at the same visit. If you have gum disease that needs more time than a routine cleaning, we will schedule your cleaning for future appointments.

Most patients benefit from visits every six months. Some need more frequent visits depending on gum health, active treatment, or risk factors. Dr. Andrew L. Kary sets a schedule based on your specific situation.
Yes. Call the office at (301) 301-3148. We reserve time in the schedule for urgent visits: broken teeth, severe pain, swelling, infection, and dental trauma.
We routinely see adolescents and teens. Children under 12 are seen on a case-by-case basis. For younger children who need a pediatric specialist, we are happy to recommend one.

Yes. Ask your previous office to send records (X-rays, treatment history) to us. Call (301) 301-3148 to coordinate the transfer. We can provide any necessary authorization forms.
You are not unusual. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and in-office general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist. Sedation is available for any procedure, and we discuss your options before scheduling so there are no surprises. The office also has heated massage chairs for additional comfort during longer appointments.

No. Kary Dental is 100% independently owned and operated by Dr. Kary. No outside investors, no corporate affiliations, no production quotas. Clinical recommendations come from the dentist treating you.
Independence, scope, and honesty. The practice has no outside investors and no production quotas. Dr. Kary handles procedures that most general offices refer out (surgical extractions, implants, bone grafting, sedation, sleep medicine) and does it with equipment typically found in specialist offices. When something is not necessary, he will tell you. When something is going to be uncomfortable, he will tell you that too.
