Dental Implants

Dr. Kary places and restores dental implants, from single teeth to full-arch cases. His training includes an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency and an oral surgery internship at Madigan Army Medical Center. Bone grafting, implant placement, and the final restoration are all completed in this office.

Each implant case begins with a cone-beam CT scan for three-dimensional evaluation of bone volume and anatomy. Dr. Kary designs and 3D prints surgical guides in-house.

For complex cosmetic and full-arch prosthetics, we work with specialized CAD design laboratories. Dr. Kary handles all final verification, adjustment, and delivery.

Are dental implants permanent?

Implants are a long-term solution. The titanium post integrates with bone and, with proper hygiene and maintenance, can last decades. The restoration on top (crown, bridge, or prosthesis) may need replacement over time depending on wear.

Most patients with missing or failing teeth are candidates. Dr. Kary evaluates bone volume, anatomy, and nerve proximity using a DEXIS OP 3D EX cone-beam CT scan. If bone is insufficient, grafting procedures can often create a viable implant site.

It depends on the case. A single implant with adequate bone may take a few months from placement to final restoration. Cases involving bone grafting, sinus lifts, or full-arch reconstruction take longer. Dr. Kary provides a detailed timeline during your consultation.

Yes. Dr. Kary places implants, performs bone grafting, designs and 3D-prints surgical guides, and fabricates the final restoration in this office. He designs guides digitally and prints them on a RapidShape Pro 20. Provisionals are pre-printed and ready before the patient sits down.

A full-arch implant prosthesis supported by four to six implants per arch. It replaces all teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both, with a fixed (non-removable) restoration. We place the implants and fabricate the prosthesis in-house.

Placement is done under local anesthetic and most patients report less discomfort afterward than they expected, often less than an extraction. Sedation is available at every level, from nitrous oxide to general anesthesia with a board-certified anesthesiologist in our office.

Bone grafting rebuilds volume where bone has been lost, which is common after a tooth has been missing for a while. It creates enough support for an implant to integrate properly. Whether you need it is determined from your cone-beam CT scan, not estimated from a standard X-ray.

Brush and floss it like a natural tooth, and keep up with regular cleanings and exams. Implants cannot decay, but the gum and bone around them can develop disease, which is the most common cause of implant failure. That is what routine maintenance visits are checking for.

Coverage varies widely. Many dental PPO plans cover implants as a major procedure at around 50%, some cover the restoration but not the surgical placement, and some exclude them. We verify your benefits and provide a written estimate before treatment. Financing through Cherry and Sunbit is available for larger treatment plans.

Yes. We restore previously placed implants, including cases where the original provider is no longer available. Dr. Kary will identify the implant system, evaluate its condition and position, and tell you honestly whether it can be restored or should be replaced.
